An Afghan family of 3 arrived in the U.S. in January 2025 on a greencard lottery.  Within a few months the daughter, who recently turned 20 years old, started working fulltime on an hourly wage to support her family.  Her parents have each had significant health issues and do not speak English so have been unable to work.  After significant struggles, with the assistance of the community and through FAITH, they were able to secure housing but still rely on Faith for partial rental assistance, food and uber vouchers.  They are all currently taking ESL classes at local libraries so that the parents can eventually work parttime and the daughter can work towards enrolling in college while she continues to support her parents.  One important step towards their self sufficiency is obtaining a car for the daughter so that she does not have to rely on ubers, which are expensive, for transportation.  She has recently obtained her driver's license and has saved some money for a car, but we'd like to raise funds to help her get something reliable and with reasonable maintenance costs, as the external financial assistance she is getting now will likely end later this year.
